Set up your veterinary appointment within 5 working days of taking your puppy to your new home.
Be consistent, take Buddy outside to potty and poop around every 1 1/2 to 2 hours at the same spot every time. He is basically potty trained with the crate. He already knows the words.
The first 10 months are extremely important for training. I have begun the foundation for a lifetime of a loving, obedient, fun dog. You will need to continue the fun training with treats and praise! Here are the commands Buddy will need to master before 10 to 12 months: sit, come, stay, down, heel, potty and poop!
I have handled Buddy every day. You will need to continue brushing his teeth, groom him and clip his nails while he is young so he can be used to them being handled.
Buddy will eat about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of Purina Puppy Chow Natural 2x a day. Then in 2 - 3 weeks, begin feeding 3x a day.
Socializatiion at an early age is very important for your Buddy! Friends with dogs or puppies are very welcome to visit, if the dog has had all its shots. I recommend 100 people or dogs in 100 days! Dog parks are great, only after Buddy has had all 4 shots! I also recommend beginning training with Pet Smart or your trainer after all the shots are complete.
Keep shoes and personal items away from your puppy's play space. If Buddy starts to chew on the table or chair legs, say "Leave it" and give him a chew toy. Then say "Good Boy" when he chews on his toys.
All training should be positive! Practice the 5 commands daily in short 5 minute training periods. Make it fun! PRAISE! TREAT!
Decide where he is allowed from Day 1. Be consistent.
Crate Trained dogs find comfort and serenity in the familiar surroundings of their crate. Each month of a puppy's life + 1 = number of hours he can be in the crate.
I appreciate great reviews on Puppy Find. Thank you!
Give Buddy lots of love, treats and praise!! I will miss him!
